All pets should have an annual exam.   Physical examinations are very important in picking up conditions that need to be addressed while they are manageable and not disastrous.  

 

The wellness exam is also a great opportunity to discuss behavior, weight, dental health, diet, or any concerns that the owner may have.  Often during the visit, the vaccinations are updated, and routine testing is performed.    

 

As the pet ages or as problems arise, additional testing may be warranted.   Preventives for heartworms, intestinal parasites, and fleas and ticks will also be addressed and tailored to each pet’s needs.
